Born to Paul Clark Rhoads and Virginia Hill (Palmer) Rhoads on the 5th of March, 1929 in Bakersfield, CA, he was a third generation native son to Kern County, grandson of Robert Palmer, Jr. who was the first white child born on the Piute Mountains in 1867. His great-grandfather Robert Palmer, Sr. came to California in 1850, settling in Kern County in 1860. Kenneth was raised with these pioneer ethics as a child, learning all phases of ranching from working on his grandfather's ranch, later working for numerous ranches in the Kern River Valley. Kenneth graduated from Kern County Union High School (now Bakersfield High) in 1947. Drawing on the skills of his forefathers, Kenneth left California and worked for numerous ranches in Colorado, Arizona, California and Nevada. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Maria Elena Rhoads; sister, Pauline Virginia Stewart; brother, Robert Clark; children, Kenneth Tracy, Laura Gene, Robert Palmer, Edward Paul, Wayne Clark, Jose Alvaro, Reyna Marie, Cruz, George, and Rosa Rhoads; 27 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. Special thanks are given to Rosa Rhoads for the loving care she gave to Dad. Kenneth will be surely missed by his family and the thousands of friends he made while here on earth.
