Description	:	Kenneth John Horner, 96, of Keokuk, died at 11:40 AM Friday, September 5, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Horner was born February 10, 1912, in Powdertown, Iowa, the son of John E. and Beulah Anna Rooney Horner. He married Nancy Almeda Thrush on October 2, 1938, in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1972. He was a lifelong resident of the Keokuk/Powdertown area. Read More	Kenneth John Horner, 96, of Keokuk, died at 11:40 AM Friday, September 5, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Horner was born February 10, 1912, in Powdertown, Iowa, the son of John E. and Beulah Anna Rooney Horner. He married Nancy Almeda Thrush on October 2, 1938, in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1972. He was a lifelong resident of the Keokuk/Powdertown area. He had been employed at Midwest Carbide for 42 years, retiring as a shift supervisor in 1972. He was of the Catholic faith. Ken loved the outdoors, fishing and dogs. He appreciated his family and neighbors. Special thanks are sent to his extended family at Papa's for all the camaraderie through the years. He will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by five children, Larry Horner and his wife, Bonnie, of Montrose, Iowa, Sandra Pope and her husband, Dan, of Whitecloud, Minnesota, Nancy Hoeferle and her husband, Harold, of Normal, Illinois, Kenneth Horner Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Keokuk and Suann Guthart and her husband, Wendell, of Davenport, Iowa; foster son, Frank Oertal of Peaksville, Missouri; very good friend, Vi Land of Powdertown, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Garnet Horner; and a grandson, Matthew Horner. Graveside services were held Monday, September 8, 2008, at Oakland Sand Cemetery in Vincennes, Iowa. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
