He was born in Stokes County on Oct. 4, 1930, to Barnie W. and Myrtle Hill Wright. Mr. Wright was retired from the Stokes County Sheriff's Department after serving the citizens of Stokes County for 12 years. He was born in Stokes County on Oct. 4, 1930, to Barnie W. and Myrtle Hill Wright. Mr. Wright was retired from the Stokes County Sheriff's Department after serving the citizens of Stokes County for 12 years. He was a retired farmer and orchard owner, a charter member of Francisco Volunteer Fire Department and the first captain of Francisco Rescue Squad and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Lawson Wright of the home; a daughter, Patricia Ann Wright and Keith Stovall of Lawsonville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Clayton Wright of Fancy Gap, Va., and James Kennedy and Lisa Wright of Madison; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bullins, Brian Corns, Dustin Wright and Ashley Wright; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Corns and Nate Bullins; a sister, Hazel Smith of Westfield; two bothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Thelma Wright of Winston Salem and Lester and Betty Wright of Westfield; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Jade Bullins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Westfield, with Elder Clarence Bowman and the Rev. Mark Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, Dec. 31, at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church and at other times at the Wright home on Horseshoe Road in Westfield. Memorials may be made to Big Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Barbara Wright, 3660 Horseshoe Road, Westfield, NC 27053.
