He was born Aug. 16, 1922, at Elkton, the son of Ray Lee and Elizabeth Eskew Nutt. He graduated from eighth grade from Salem School and graduated from Wheatland High School. He married Nadine Johnson July 3, 1941. They moved to Kansas City, where he worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. until going into the Army in November 1942. He was born Aug. 16, 1922, at Elkton, the son of Ray Lee and Elizabeth Eskew Nutt. He graduated from eighth grade from Salem School and graduated from Wheatland High School. He married Nadine Johnson July 3, 1941. They moved to Kansas City, where he worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. until going into the Army in November 1942. He was stationed in Salina, Kan., and Grenada, Miss., before going overseas in August 1944. He was in active duty until December 1945 in Central Europe Ardennes Rhineland Northern France. He was awarded four Bronze stars and a Purple Heart Medal. He served with the 94th Infantry Division. He returned as a staff sergeant. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, sports and being with his family. He was a member of the Elkton Christian Church since 1940 and an active member of Galmey V.F.W. Post No. 9638 until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Elizabeth Nutt. Survivors include his wife, Nadine Nutt; their son, Rick Nutt and wife Cathy; a daughter, Connie Reed and friend Chris Hanks; foster daughter, Debbie Thompson and husband Randy; along with six grandchildren, Brandy Pruett, Tally Kocher, Riley Nutt, Chris Nutt, Blake Thompson and Tanner Thompson; and three great-granddaughters, Bailey, Makayla and Mariah. Memorial services were Saturday, July 17, with Tim Brenner officiating at Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home Chapel, Wheatland, with full military honors provided by the Galmey V.F.W. Post No. 9638. Inurnment will be at a later date in Robinson Cemetery.
