Read More	Kenneth Landis Friend October 31, 1924 - February 11, 2014 Kenneth Landis Friend, 89, of Friendsville, MD, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD. Born October 31, 1924, in Sang Run, MD, he was the son of the late Carl and Mary (Lowdermilk) Friend. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lydia J. (Spear) Friend and two sisters, Delora Dixon and Lucille Newcomer. Mr. Friend was owner/operator of Ken's Tavern and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Friendsville United Methodist Church, Confluence VFW Post 7250 and Woodmen of the World Camp 45, Friendsville. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Vaughn Friend, Friendsville and a half-brother, Curtis Friend, Oakland, MD. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Garrett County.
