Kenneth was born in Chanute on June 15, 1917, the son of Edward L. and Grace M. (Kustanbauter) Caldwell. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1935 and then attended and graduated from the University of Kansas. He was united in marriage to Ruth M. Manley on October 26, 1940 in Lexington, Missouri. Caldwell, 91, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. Kenneth was born in Chanute on June 15, 1917, the son of Edward L. and Grace M. (Kustanbauter) Caldwell. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1935 and then attended and graduated from the University of Kansas. He was united in marriage to Ruth M. Manley on October 26, 1940 in Lexington, Missouri. She survives. Kenneth was the Sales Manager for Manley Transfer Company. He was the founder of Tolle Manufacturing of Chanute and was associated with Hausel-Miller Company in Cherryvale. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; the American Legion; Rotary; The Elks; Cedar Lodge #103; Mirza Shrine; Scottish Rite and Thayer Lodge #149, president of the Chamber of Commerce Industrial Committee in the 1960's; a president of S.E.K. Mid-America Inc.; Southeast District Governor for Rotary; a 33rd Degree Mason; and was the President of the Kansas Masonic Home for nine years. He is survived by his wife Ruth, of the home; two daughters, Marilyn Sue Henry and husband Jarold of Chanute, KS, and Ruthann Boatwright and husband Ted of Wamego, KS; grandchildren, Mike Henry and wife Stephanie of Chanute, KS, Mindy Henry McReynolds and husband Doug of Parsons, KS, Denver, Chelsea, Brook and Sasha Boatwright; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Michelle McReynolds and Ethan Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Ed and Fred; a brother, Ed Caldwell Jr.; and three sisters, Helen B. Frederick, Wilma M. Stowell and Hazel E. Rush. Funeral services will be June 23, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas. Memorials in his name may be made to Cherry Street Youth Center or the First United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. ***********************
