Kabonic*, 82, Frontenac, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1922, to Jacob and Tillie (Dittman) Kabonic in Frontenac. He attended area schools, graduating from Frontenac High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 through 1946, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 17, 1946. Mr. Kabonic was a machinist for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 41 years. He later was a representative for Waddell and Reed Financial Services in Frontenac for 35 years. He was a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church, where he served on the financial committee and held various other church positions. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 187 of Pittsburg, Mirza Shrine Temple in Pittsburg, Frontenac Rotary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, John F. Derby American Legion Post No. 43 in Frontenac, and the Machinist Union (AFLIO). On Feb. 27, 1946, he married Mabel Windsor in Frontenac. She preceded him in death in September 1987. He later married Patricia Hultz on Oct. 8, 1989 in Frontenac, and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Debbie Bridwell of Frontenac; a son, Ken Kabonic of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Cleo Natalini of Frontenac; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kabonic and a sister, Katherine Peternell. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at the Frontenac United Methodist Church with the Rev. Verl Strong officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, rural Pittsburg, where the John F. Derby American Legion Post No. 43, Frontenac, will give the flag presentation. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay, Frontenac, with Masonic rites at 6 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday.
