Kenneth LeRoy DeKnikker was born on December 2, 1931 at Bruce, SD to Gerritt and Emma (Peterson) DeKnikker. He attended school at Bruce until he left to help his grandparents on the farm. Read More	Kenneth LeRoy DeKnikker, 84 of Lake Preston, SD and a former Oldham area resident died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at his home in Lake Preston. Kenneth LeRoy DeKnikker was born on December 2, 1931 at Bruce, SD to Gerritt and Emma (Peterson) DeKnikker. He attended school at Bruce until he left to help his grandparents on the farm. He served during the Korean War with the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Kenneth was united in marriage to Eleanor "Jeannie" Groce on December 18, 1954. They had five children. Kenneth worked for his father-in-law as a blacksmith, then for the Oldham School District as a custodian and finally at Green Thumb Commodities in Oldham until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Oldham Baptist Church and the Oldham American Legion. Kenneth loved his family, friends, church and country. He loved and treasured his long time friends who he would visit and tell jokes over coffee at the Dragon's Den in Oldham. He enjoyed going to baseball games and playing cards with family. Kenneth is survived by his wife Jeannie, children; Greg (Audrey) DeKnikker of Belle Fouche,SD, Kenny (Melissa) DeKnikker of Fairbault, MN, Deann (Gary) Sundberg of Volga, SD, Darin (Stacey) DeKnikker of Chino Hills, CA, Kayleen (Paul) Caron of Faribault, MN, 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Holter of Brookings, SD and Shirley Soden of Madison, SD, two brothers, Darrell (Darlene) DeKnikker of Belle Fouche, SD, Richard (Jeannett) DeKnikker of Oldham, SD along with many relatives and friends. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, a daughter-in-law and a grandson. Funeral services for Kenneth will be at 2:00 pm on Friday,May 13, 2016 at the Oldham Baptist Church with Pastor Gordon Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the Oldham City Cemetery at Oldham. Visitation will be in the church from 5-8 pm on Thursday, May 12, 2016 and before services in the church on Friday.
