Description	:	Kenneth “Kenny” Maag, age 62, of Castlewood, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m., with a scripture service at 4 p.m., officiated by Pastor Terry Drew, on Sunday at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Paul Rutten as the celebrant. Kenneth LeRoy Maag, the son of Albert and Genevieve (Tschackert) Maag was born on December 21, 1954, in Watertown. He grew up on the family farm north of Watertown. Kenny graduated from Watertown High School in 1973. He was united in marriage to Monica A. Mack on May 25, 1974, in Watertown. The couple lived and raised their family in Lead. Kenny worked mining gold at the Homestake Gold Mine until closing, and then he worked in building and construction where they began reconstruction of the Homestake Opera House in Lead. Kenny worked until his health issues made it impossible to continue working. He loved fishing, especially on the Missouri River where he spent most weekends with his family. He also loved working with wood. His greatest joy came from fishing and camping with his family, his greatest treasure was his grandchildren and his greatest peace and contentment came when he realized his salvation and love came from his relationship with Jesus Christ. Kenny is survived by his wife, Monica of Castlewood; his children, Jerod (Crystal Hedge) Maag of Hayti, and Connie (Billy) Butler of Hayti; his grandchildren, Tryston and Madison Butler, and Jaiden and Gavin Maag; his siblings, Lynford (Pat) Maag of Watertown, Barb Zaug of Rapid City, Corrine (Norris) Patrick of White, Marilyn (Bill) De Jarlais of Minnesota, Stanley (Pat) Maag of Torrington, Neb., Shirley Hanten of Mankato, Minn., Lowell (Joe) Maag of Watertown and Mike (Vicky) Maag of Watertown; and sister-in-law, Linda Maag of Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Janice Nogelemier; brother, Clayton Maag; brothers-in-law, Leo Zaug, Donald “Boomie” Nogelemier and Matt “Shorty” Hanten. - Watertown Public Opinion January 28, 2017
