Cook died Feb. 23 in Cedarville. He was 43. He was born Aug. 26, 1947 in Alturas. Cook was a Vietnam Veteran and served as a crew chief on a helicopter, there. He served in the Army for a total of nine years. After returning to civilian life, he moved back to Eagleville to enjoy his life-long passions of hunting, fishing, skiing, trap shooting and the outdoors. He had a love for driving race cars. Cook was a member of the Warner Mountain Racing Association. He also drove truck as an owner and operator, prior to his death. Surviving are his parent, Kenneth and Alleva Cook of Eagleville; his daughter, Darra Cook of Charleston, SC; his son, Jeffery Cook of San Jose; a sister, Athena Flourney of Likely; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Modoc County Record Page 12, February 28, 1991 Recap of Mr. Cook's military service: Mr. Cook entered into active duty in the United States Army on January 8, 1968 at Oakland, CA. He served during the Vietnam War. He began his service at Fort Lewis, Washington and also served at Fort Rucker, Alabama, Fort Ord, California, and Hunter Army Air Field, Georgia. He also served overseas in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Expert Rifleman Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was discharded as a SP5/E5 on June 10.1977 at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
