Description	:	Kenneth R. Vietor, age 87, passed away December 11, 2016 at his Lennox, SD, home while under hospice care. Kenneth was born on August 10, 1929, the son of Herman and Winifred (Evans) Vietor. He grew up three miles south of Chancellor, SD, attending Vietor Rural School District #20 and graduated from Hurley High School in 1947. Vietor, age 87, passed away December 11, 2016 at his Lennox, SD, home while under hospice care. Kenneth was born on August 10, 1929, the son of Herman and Winifred (Evans) Vietor. He grew up three miles south of Chancellor, SD, attending Vietor Rural School District #20 and graduated from Hurley High School in 1947. He then worked on the family farm and for various other area farmers. On June 4, 1950 he married Charlotte Andersen. He entered the US Army in 1950, serving in Korea, until his honorable discharge in 1954. He managed the Lennox Coop Association for 20 years and then the Canton Farmers Cooperative from 1980 until his retirement in 1991. Ken then drove cars for Jerry’s Auto Body and Auto Sales. Kenneth was a member of the Second Reformed Church. He was a life member of Brethorst-Burma American Legion Post #174, Lennox and volunteered for many years with Lennox Legion Baseball. He was also a life member of the John Bliss VFW Post, in Sioux Falls and had been a member of the Lennox Volunteer Fire Department. Besides his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Merlin and Arlene Vietor, parents-in-law, Elmer and Evelyn Andersen and brother-in-law, Gifford Andersen. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 66 years, Charlotte; son, Arden (Alice) Vietor, Lennox and daughter, Marilyn (Ken) Ullmann, Spencer, IA; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 15 at Second Reformed Church, Lennox, SD. Visitation for the public will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox. Lennox Independent - Dec 14, 2016
