Gary Main officiating. Burial is at the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby. There will be no visitation. Mr. Taddiken was born July 14, 1913, in Shelby to Robert and Nellie (Rosenberry) Taddiken. He attended rural schools until the eighth grade. He married Lillian I. Thomazin Feb. 14, 1933, in Fremont. He was a farmer and cattle feeder in the Shelby area. He was a resident of Columbus since 1982. He was a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the IOFF Lodge. Survivors include four daughters, JoAnn Furbur and Candice (Gary) Vrbka, all of Shelby, Kay (Bill) Johnson of Stromsburg and Marcia (Steve) Voss of Denver; one brother, Ronald Taddiken of Lincoln; one sister, Violet Butts of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 14, 1971; and one sister, Nell. -------------- Kenneth Robert Taddiken, oldest child and son of Robert Taddiken and Nellie Rosenberry, was born on a farm southeast of Shelby on July 14, 1913. He attended country school at Union Dist. #1. On February 14, 1933, he married Lillian Thomazin. To this union, four daughters were born: Jo Ann Furbur, Kay Loy (Bill) Johnson, Marcia Sue (Steve) Voss and Candice Lee (Gary) Vrbka. Kenneth was a farmer and cattle feeder. He had a great interest in farming all of his life. As a young man, he played baseball and loved the game, and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs. He was an avid "Big Red" fan. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Oddfellows Lodge for over 50 years. Kenneth was best known as "Crackers." Kenneth departed this life the morning of September 28, 2000 at Columbus Community Hospital at the age of 87. He is survived by his four daughters, three sons-in-law, 11 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; his brother Ronald Taddiken and a sister Violet Butts, both of Lincoln; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister Nell Davis. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 30 at Kepner-Roberts Chapel in Osceola with Rev. Gary Main officiating.
