Description	:	Kenneth Thorn Kenneth Thorn, 90, of Old Morgantown Pike, Belington, died Wednesday evening, May 27, 2009, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, following a brief illness. He was born July 3, 1918, at Belington, a son of the late Henry Jackson and Simma Victoria (Swick) Thorn. On Nov. 10, 1945, he married the former Dorotha Dale Boyles, who preceded him in death on March 23, 1999. He was born July 3, 1918, at Belington, a son of the late Henry Jackson and Simma Victoria (Swick) Thorn. On Nov. 10, 1945, he married the former Dorotha Dale Boyles, who preceded him in death on March 23, 1999. Surviving are one daughter, Victoria Kathryn Bossow and husband, George, of Seaside Park, N.J.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Kathryn Geremia and husband, John Joseph, of Bridgewater, N.J., and Bradley Kenneth Bossow and wife, Julie Ann, of Toms River, N.J.; four great-grandsons, Jake Joseph Geremia, Jaden Joseph Geremia, Brady Kenneth Bossow and Chase William Bossow; two sisters-in-law, Pauline (Kittle) Thorn of Philippi and Kathryn (Boyles) Carpenter of Buckhannon; and lots of loving nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Paul Thorn, Gerald Thorn, Kermit Thorn, Arle E. Thorn and Olaf Thorn. Mr. Thorn was a graduate of Belington High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with Company C 125th Armored Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army Combat Engineers and was awarded the Bronze Star. He began his working career as a carpenter and retired as superintendent in commercial construction. He was later self-employed in the sale and construction of metal buildings for commercial and agricultural applications. He was a member of Belington Post 96, American Legion and Laurel Mountain Post 410 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served two terms on the Barbour County Board of Education and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the Asbury United Methodist Church. The Rev. Arden Beck and the Rev. Robert Baer Jr., will officiate and interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery where military rites will be conferred by Belington Post 96 and Barbour County Post 44, American Legion. Friends may call at the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until noon Sunday when Mr. Thorn will be moved to the Asbury United Methodist Church where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The family requests memorials in the form of contributions to the Belington Emergency Medical Service (E.M.S.), in care of P.O. Box 922, Belington, W.Va. 26250.
