Kenneth Wayne Jackson, age 74 of Garden Grove, Iowa, was born August 24, 1933 at Leon, Iowa to William Melvin an Josie Mae [Storey] Jackson. He died at Iowa Lutheran Hospital on Friday, November 2, 2007. Kenneth attended school in Decatur County, Iowa. He was working at Fleetlite Window Factory in Des Moines when he met Shirley June Rhodes. They were married September 14, 1957 in Des Moines. They were blessed with three children, two sons and a daughter. In 1964 they moved to Hartford, Iowa where Kenneth was a farm hand. In 1986 they moved to Altoona, Iowa where he worked for another farmer. Kenneth retired on December 31, 1998. In 1999 they returned to Decatur County near Garden Grove. He was proud of his home and enjoyed sitting on his porch listening to country music. He collected clocks of all kinds and enjoyed tinkering with his tractor. Kenneth was a great storyteller and a believable joke teller. He had nicknames for most of his family - his wife was Lovie and later Ma. He was an outgoing and fun loving guy. He loved life, never knew a stranger, and enjoyed helping his family. He and Shirley liked working in the garden. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters: Eliza Mae Jackson and Thelma Cox. He is survived by wife, Shirley Jackson of Garden Grove; children: two sons and a daughter; one grandson, two step-granddaughters; brother Junior; Shirley's family; nieces and other nephews; and other relatives and friends.
