Kenneth Caparoon, the seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Caparoon, from Wapello, was drowned in the washout near the M. B. & S tracks near Wapello Saturday afternoon shortly after 3 o'clock. Little Son of Will Caparoon Loses Life While Wading. Kenneth Caparoon, the seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Caparoon, from Wapello, was drowned in the washout near the M. The youth, in company with playmate, Kenneth Fisher, about the same age, were wading in the water and it s believed the lad stepped in a deep hole. When he failed to come to the surface, the Fisher boy became alarmed and ran for help. Thomas Weiser was the first on the scene after the alarm had been given and succeeded in bringing the body to the surface, but despite the effort of the men on the bank resuscitation was impossible. The washout near where the boys were wading is about 300 yards from the city limits, and in some places is about seven feet deep. The two boys were alone at the time of the accident. The funeral services were held at the home in Wapello, Monday forenoon, and interment took place at Elmwood cemetery near Morning Sun. Besides the parents a baby brother is left. Some few years ago, while the family was living here, another little son met a tragic death by falling into a tub of hot water, dying from the burns a few hours later.
