Description	:	Kent G. Obermeyer, 88, of Oketo, KS, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 6, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m., Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 10, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. Rev. Julie Shields will officiate. Deb Bruna will play the organ while Mandy Cook sings "Light of the World" and "The Lord's Prayer". The honorary pallbearers will be Mandy Meadows, Mallory Metz, Nicole Yungeberg and Christa Knox. Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery. Kent was born January 28, 1933 near Marysville to C. Russell and Kathryn (Rickert) Obermeyer. In 1951, he graduated from Marysville High School. Following graduation, he worked at Boeing in Wichita. Kent was in the military from 1955 – 1957. On July 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to LoAllen Reinhardt at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville and were blessed with 61 years of marriage. They lived on the farm east of Oketo. Kent was a farmer and dairyman. He partnered in the farming and dairy operation with his wife. He was very active in his church and community. He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he served on the church council and as council president. Kent and LoAllen were awarded the Bankers Award for Soil Conservation in 1971, Goodyear Award for Soil Conservation in 1975, Marshall County Fair Volunteer of the Year Award, Marshall County 4-H Family of the Year and Marshall County Historical Society 100 Year Farm Award. Kent served as a member of the Marshall County Extension Council and Board Chairman, 4-H Livestock Leader and Community Leader for 22 years, President and Board Member of the Oketo Museum, Chairman and Board Member of the Marshall County Historical Society, served on the Balderson Township Board, served on the Farmers Home Administration Board, Board member and member of the Marshall County Development Corporation, member of the Cross Trailers Square Dance Club and Board member of the Marshall County Rural Water No. 3. Kent helped coach his children's ball teams in Marietta. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LoAllen; brother, Dale Obermeyer; sisters-in-law, Fern Obermeyer and Sharen Reinhardt; and brother-in-law, Larry Reinhardt. Survivors include his children, Kurt (Margaret) Obermeyer, Oketo, Keli (Roy) Yungeberg, Waterville, and Kris Obermeyer, Fairbury, NE; brother-in-law, Richard Reinhardt, Marysville; and six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, with one due in June and four step great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Marshall County Historical Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
