Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union was in Charge of the arrangements. Kem's death occurred Sunday, Dec 17,2006 at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, following a brief illness . He had become ill in late November and had been a resident of Maple Crest for about a week before he died. Kermit George Jonsberg was born April 6, 1926 in Ossian. He was the son of Oscar and Myrtle (Chensvold) Jonsberg. After graduating from Postville High School in 1944, Kerm served his country with the United States Navy. Upon his discharge, he attended Upper Iowa College in Fayette for two years. On June 15, 1957, Kerm was united in marriage with Lorraine Irene Saboe at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. One son was born to this union. Kerm and his father started a lawnmower sales and repair service, later expanding the business to include appliances. Kerm owned and operated West Union Appliance for over 50 years before retiring in 2004. Kerm was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine in 1999; his parents; and his twin brother in infancy.
