Kermit Alexander Victim of Auto Accident While Going to Visit in Suffolk Pvt. Kermit W. Alexander, son of Mrs. Ella Alexander of Houston neighborhood was killed at five o’clock Monday morning in an automobile accident twenty miles this side of Suffolk, Va. He was home on a fifteen days furlough from Fort Sam Houston, Tex. His brother, Mr. W. E. Alexander, had come home from his work at Suffolk, and on Sunday evening the two started in the car of the brother to Suffolk, where Pvt. Alexander expected to spend a few days. The latter was driving when the accident occurred. The tire blew out and the car ran into a bridge. W. E. Alexander was not severely hurt but was sent to a hospital. The body arrived the morning by train, and was met by McEwen Funeral home. The funeral will be held at eleven o’clock Wednesday morning at Oak Grove Baptist church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Verne Helms, assisted by Rev. Walter Hill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pvt. Alexander had been in service since last December. He is survived by his mother, two sisters and six brothers. These are Mrs. L. J. Whitley and Mrs. Earl Broom, and Messrs. W. E. Alexander of Suffolk, Parks, Edward and Allen of the county, Benjamin of the U. S. Army now in North Africa, and Richard Alexander of Wilmington. The Monroe Journal, Monroe, NC, Tues.
