Kerry Dean Thompson 53, died on Oct. 13 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley. Kerry was born Nov. 7, 1954, to Edward and Eva (Conrad) Thompson in Omaha, Neb. He was raised in the Logan and Woodbine area and attended Lo-Ma and Woodbine Schools. Kerry proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1973–1975 stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge he worked for Stoddard Trailers in Dunlap. He also worked in construction in Colorado and California. Kerry married Mary Freund and they were blessed with one son, Shane. In the late 1980's Kerry moved back to Woodbine. He did some roofing and millwright construction work. Kerry enjoyed wood crafts and leather crafts. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Kerry was preceded in death by his father, Edward Thompson; brother, Dennis Thompson; sister, Linda Bird; and nephew, Shawn Freeman. He is survived by his son, Shane Thompson and his wife Trisha of Fort Riley, Kan.; mother, Eva Thompson of Woodbine; three sisters, Cheryl Gibson of Wood River, Ill., Sheila Baker of Dunlap, Toni Thompson of Woodbine; brother, Tim Thompson of Colorado; and many other relatives and friends. Kerry's wishes were to be cremated. His ashes will be buried at the Woodbine Cemetery.
