Description	:	"Kertha M. Ross Summers, daughter of T.I. and Betty Ross was born near Melotte, Ind. June 27, 1899, and departed this life December 1st, 1917, aged 18yrs, 5mo, and 4da. She was married to Claude Summers January 20, 1915, to this union were born two sons Leon Robert and Isham Ross. She was a firm believer in the Christian Religion and taught a class in the Cates Sunday School for two consecutive years, showing her inters in the great work of the church. She was a firm believer in the Christian Religion and taught a class in the Cates Sunday School for two consecutive years, showing her inters in the great work of the church. To be an efficient teacher was the dream of her young life, but alas how quickly the gray monster destroys our plans. She did not profess to be perfect but the aim of her life was to be useful and helpful to others, thinking of the interest of others more than self. She had been a suffer for about two months with diabetes, that disease that is alway fatal. While her suffering were great she never murmured nor complained, but with patience and Christian fortitude waited until the good lord came and removed her to the house not made with hand but eternal in the heavens, 'For we know that if this earthly house were dissolved, we have a building not made with hands but eternal in the heavens.' she is gone but not forgotten and we are comforted in the happy thought that our loss is her eternal gain, and that she is at rest. She leaves to mourn, a husband, two children, father, and mother and many relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Airhart of Greencastle, Indiana and the body laid to rest in the Cates Cemetery."
