Read More	ARMY VETERAN- STAFF SGT Kevin "Pappy" Albert Muilenburg, 71, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at his home as a result of complications from ALS. Kevin Albert Muilenburg, son of Albert and Mary "Grace" (Waeckerle) Muilenburg, was born on October 13, 1949, in Huron, SD. He grew up in the Bancroft area and graduated from DeSmet High School in 1969. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army in 1969, and served in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971, before being honorably discharged in 1972. Kevin was united in marriage with Jani Wallum on November 28, 1975, in DeSmet, SD. Kevin attended Votech in Watertown, SD and received his certification in welding. In 1986, the family moved to Sioux Falls, SD, and Kevin worked in welding at various locations. Kevin began a career with the Department of Transportation in Sioux Falls and worked in maintenance and was a snowplow operator. In 1989, Kevin entered into service with the Army National Guard and served in Iraq in 2003 and 2004, honorably discharged in 2005. After Kevin retired, he kept busy driving school bus until his diagnosis with ALS in 2017. Kevin was a member of the American Legion, and active with the ALS Association, and Midwest Honor Flight. Always positive and caring, Kevin enjoyed classic cars, hunting, fishing, and hot air ballooning. He was the life of the party and cherished time spent with family and friends. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter and special friend D.E.; 2 grandchildren; brother ; sister ; brother-in-law ; sister-in-law ; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to the ALS Association or Midwest Honor Flight. The family will be present from 11 to 1 pm with a funeral service at 1 pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue with interment at the South Dakota State Veteran's Cemetery at a future date. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jani; brother James; and sister Loraine Hawkinson.
