Read More	Kevin Doty made his last wildly inappropriate and probably sarcastic comment on January 24, 2020. Some think it was to avoid having to tell his wife, Marie, about another secret vehicle purchase. Kevin was born on December 5, 1962 in Colfax to Donald and Lorene (Ackerman) Doty. He grew up in Colfax and attended school graduating with the class of 1981. Kevin spent his whole life in Colfax out on the family farm which means there are multiple lifetimes of stuff his family will have to sort through. While a farmer by trade, Kevin believed his true calling to be that of an artistic genius. He loved photography and if you were lucky enough to call him a friend, there is a photo of some moment in time hanging on the wall of the house. But he could also see art is anything. No item was safe from his creativity although some, after seeing what he created, might have wished it had been. He took great joy in seeing how uncomfortable or speechless his latest creation could make someone. His grin would grow and his chest puff up the longer it took someone to comment. He liked to push people’s buttons to see if they were too uptight and didn’t have a sense of humor. Friends were always welcome to drop by except in the afternoon. He found nap time to be one of life’s necessities and had choice words for anyone who disrupted his. However, during his waking hours, a drop by the house or shop was always met with an offer of a beer and a place to sit or a counter to lean on. Your ears might be ringing by the time you left if he was in the middle of a personal concert session with his stereo, and the deafer he became the sooner you could hear what he was up to. When he was a boater and fisherman, these concerts could also be heard up and down the river. It’s a miracle he, or anyone else in the vicinity, ever caught a fish, but teaching college students at the Dunes what real music sounded like was a must in rounding out their education. If you needed help, he was willing and you could expect a comment of “you idiot, you don’t do it that way” or something similar at some point to either frustrate you or make you smile. If the help you needed was figuring out a dilemma you could guarantee he had a solution. Whether it was a good one or not didn’t matter and if you didn’t like it, you could go [email protected]*! yourself, usually said with a chuckle in his voice. The Grange and Doty shop won’t be the same without his words of wisdom being imparted. So in the words you would often hear as either you or he were leaving, “alright…..see you later.” Kevin is survived by his wife, Marie Taylor, at the family farm; his two brothers, Doug Doty of Asotin, and Steve Doty of Colfax; his niece, Kayla and his two nephews, Zach and Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents. Hey Kevin, we love you long time. Viewing for those who wish will be held on Thursday from 9:00 – 5:00 PM. A public graveside service will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Colfax Cemetery followed immediately by a reception at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds Community Building.
