He graduated from Highland High School in 1982. On December 31, 1983, Kevin was united in marriage to Dina Meyer in Richmond, Iowa. Kevin was a life resident of Washington County. He worked as an Environmental Technician at the University of Iowa. He previously owned and operated McFarland Heating and Air until 2013. Kevin enjoyed the outdoors where he spent a lot of time fishing and gardening. He enjoyed antiques and going for Sunday car rides. Family was the focus of Kevin’s life and he cherished the time spent with them. He is survived by his wife Dina McFarland of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Amber Rocha and husband Gavino of West Liberty, Iowa; son, Tyler McFarland of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Breanna McFarland of Davenport, Iowa; three grandchildren: Quintyn, Addysyn and Brynlyn Rocha; brother, Bruce McFarland of Ainsworth, Iowa; brother, Jeff McFarland and wife Tracy of Fairhope, Alabama; sister, Julie Harland and husband Jeff of Kalona, Iowa; sister, Stefanie Swartzendruber and husband Chris of Kalona, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Marla Meyer of Riverside, Iowa. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Shari Butler; and an infant brother, Jamie.
