Description	:	Mrs. Lars Madsen, whose funeral occurred last Thursday, was born in Denmark on November 11, 1831, her maiden name being Kirsten Christensen. In 1857 she was married to Lars Madsen, and in 1878 she came to America, coming directly to South Dakota, settling on the farm in Brookings county which was thence forward her home, and where the aged husband still resides. Madsen of Bangor, Christopher Madsen of Laketon, Martin Madsen of Roberts County, Mrs. Herman Christensen of Roberts County, Mrs. Anderson of Dallas, Oregon, and Otto Madsen who remains at home on the old place. Fifty six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also have come to mutiply the family of this worthy couple. Mrs. Madsen was ill only a short time, being taken sick on Friday morning. Saturday she was taken worse, and passed away Saturday evening, the direct cause of her death being hemorrhage of the brain. She had always been of vigorous constitution, and had carried her part in lifes work bravely and unflinchingly. Her sturdiness of principle and gentleness of heart made her a model mother and wife, and a friend worthy of respect and affection which she held wherever known. The funeral was held from the residence on Thursday. Rev. Estegaard, pastor of the Denmark church officiating, and the remains were laid at rest in the Lake Poinsett Cemetery.
