Rienks, for 23 years a farmer of the Burton bench country near Farmington, and well known through the county, died last Friday morning at the Deaconess hospital in Great Falls, following a period of intense suffering from a stomach ailment to which he fell victim almost two years ago. Mr. Rienks was 52 years old. Mr. Rienks was first taken to Great Falls early last fall, later returning to Choteau where he spent many weeks under the care of physicians at hospitals here. Two weeks ago he was again take to Great Falls in the hope that something might be done, but the disease which brought death ten days later had progressed beyond the aid of medical skill. A native of Holland, Mr. Rienks came to this country more than a quarter century ago, settling in Iowa, where he remained until he moved to Farmington in 1905. He homesteaded land in the T.L. Gap country, which he still owned at the time of his death, but chose the Burton bench farm for his permanent home. He is survived by Mrs. Rienks and a baby daughter, Annie, and by two daughters by a former marriage, Irene, who is in high school here, and Margaret, who attends the Choteau grade school. Since Mr. Rienks was taken to Great Falls last fall, the family has lived in Choteau on the W.E. Howard place on the east edge of town. Mr. Rienks was a member of no fraternal organization. He was known as a good neighbor and citizen, and had many friends in the community. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M.E. church. Burial was made in Choteau cemetery.
