She graduated from Twisp High School in 1965.After graduation she moved to Spokane, where she met her husband Donald Cowen. They were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Jan. 20, 1967. They moved to Walla Walla before moving to Yakima, where she gave birth to her two children.Konnie lived the last 40-plus years of her life in Yakima, watching her children and grandchildren grow. She worked outside the home at times as a housekeeper and owner/operator of The Coin Vault, where she met many people and made many friends.After winning a battle with a brain aneurism in 1994, she lived to be a major part of her children's and grandchildren's lives. They will always have very special memories of the times they spent with her and know that they have a special place in her heart. She spent countless hours with her grandchildren listening, talking, teaching and playing. She enjoyed attending their school and sports events, watching movies, and playing games with them.Her family always meant the world to her and she had their support during her battle with cancer. She enjoyed having them all together with her this past summer to celebrate her 60th birthday. She also was able to view wild Orcas near the San Juan Islands this summer with members of her family.Konnie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald; daughter Toni Nugent and son-in-law Phil; son Timothy Cowen and daughter-in-law April; father and mother Don and Blanche Arbogast; sister Talana Lay and brother-in-law Robert; four grandchildren, Kelsie Nugent, Stephen Nugent, Dakota Cowen and Sierra Denend; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Demmitt; brother Douglas Demmitt; and both sets of grandparents.
