Read More	Kornelia Peters was born in October 1924, in the country village of Uithuizen, located in the northeastern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, one of the twelve children of Hendrik Peters and Martje Banninga, who married in May 1923 in Uithuizen too. She was named after his maternal grandmother Kornela Medema. On January 29, 1948 Kornelia Peters married in the nearby country village of Uithuizermeeden at the age of 23 years the six years older Derk Froma. At the same day and place Kornelia's brothers Jan (John) and Ate (Art) Peters married to Sina Poel resp. Henny Bultena. Reason: they all wanted to emigrate with Kornelia's parents to Canada, but at that time no single girls were allowed to immigrate. On April 8, 1948 they boarded on the Kota Inten and landed April 17 in Halifax, Canada. From there they took the train to Barrhead, and arrived on 23 April 1948 in the Dutch agrarian settlement of Neerlandia, located about 60 miles northwest of Edmonton, the seat of the Canadian province Alberta. Derk (Dick) and Kornelia (Corrie) Froma had 10 children. Kornelia died in October 1983 at the age of almost 59 years, likely in Neerlandia, Alberta, Canada. Her widower Derk Froma died in September 1997 at the age of 78 years.
