Wicker, manager of the Albert Dickinson Popcorn elevator at Lake View for the past ten years, passed away in his sleep Wednesday night of last week, Jan. 5th, 1938, at his home in Ulmer. The cause of his death was heart trouble, with which he had been ailing for the past two years. He suffered a severe heart attack just before Christmas, and had not been able to return to his duties here since that time. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at one o'clock from the home at Ulmer and at 2 o'clock from the Wall Lake Presbytarian church , with the Rev. Edson Bell officiating. Interment was in the Wall Lake cemetery. The Misses Lola and Helen Kowalke sang, "God Will Take Care of You" and "Abide With Me", Miss Norma Frerichs being the accompanist. The pallbearers were G.G. Garnatz, G.F. Sherman, Frank Schmidt, Lou Buse, Charles White and Robert Dettman. Relatives and friends present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wicker and daughter Marilyn, Ross Martin and daughter, Ruth, and Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Burns, all of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Martin and family and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Martin of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Cora Printz of Baldwin, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fyock and children of Onawa, and Harry Thiessen and Sheriff and Mrs. Wm. Stuart of Sac City. Louis M. Wicker was born Nov. 18, 1873 in Jackson county, near Baldwin, Iowa. At his passing at Ulmer on January 5, 1938, he was 64 years, 1 month and 18 days of age. He came to Sac county when a young man and lived here continuously until his death. In 1900, he was married to Miss Fannie Martin, who died four years later. To this union was born one son, Ralph of Fort Dodge. In 1909, he married for the second time, his bride, being Miss Ethel Martin, a sister to his first wife. His business interests were the handling of popcorn and grain. He operated an elevator at Ulmer for several years, and as before stated, was manager in Lake View for 10 years of the Dickinson elevator. Besides his wife and son, he leaves to mourn his death his mother, Mrs. Sena Wicker, of Wall Lake, and two sisters, Mrs. Earl Fyock, of Onawa, and Mrs. Clara Lange, and one brother, John of Wall Lake. Also one granddaughter, Marilyn Wicker, of Fort Dodge. Mr. Wicker was well-known and highly respected in the communities where he lived and his genial disposition and kind heart made him beloved by all who knew him. He was a faithful father and devoted and kind husband, and will be held in grateful memory by his family and a host of friends.
