Description	:	HALLIEFORD - L. Wayne Hudgins died the morning of Sept. 2, 2009, at his home on beautiful Queen's Creek. A native of Mathews County, he was a loving husband, father and "Pops" to his grandchildren. He enjoyed his life and felt blessed by his many wonderful experiences. Read More	HALLIEFORD - L. Wayne Hudgins died the morning of Sept. 2, 2009, at his home on beautiful Queen's Creek. A native of Mathews County, he was a loving husband, father and "Pops" to his grandchildren. He enjoyed his life and felt blessed by his many wonderful experiences. He was especially grateful to have so many friends and relatives involved in his life and his love of the jewel Mathews County. After graduating from Mathews High School in 1956, Wayne served in the Air Force where he was stationed in New Hampshire and met Peggy. After their marriage they settled in Newport News where he worked for the Naval Investigative Service and then with the Department of Defense stationed at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown. They moved back to Mathews in 1979, where after retirement he became involved in many organizations where he served on the board including Mathews Land Conservancy, McVic, Owens Foundation and as a member of Mathews Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Peggy; his three children and their spouses and grandchildren, Tim and Frances Hudgins, Anna and Edwin of Arlington, Va., Kevin and Adrian Hudgins, Julia and Lydia of Richmond, Va., and Christy and Pete Kelley, Joe and Louise of Jacksonville, Fla. After a private family service, the family will receive well-wishers from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, in Kingston Parish Episcopal Church with a reception following at the Parish House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the following organizations that were near and dear to his heart. They are: Mathews Land Conservancy, "Boathouse Construction Project", PO Box 306, Mathews, VA 23109, McVic, "Sibley's Fund", PO box 1456, Mathews, VA 23109 and Mathews Rotary Club, "Scholarship Fund", C/O Mathews Community Foundation, PO Box 1037, Mathews, VA 23109.
