Mrs. Wacker, who was 69 years old, died Sunday, Oct 14, 2001, in Spokane. She was born Sept 19, 1932, in Harrington, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Schmierer) Chappell. She grew up and attended school in Harrington, graduating from Harrington High School with the Class of 1950. Shortly after, she married Al Wacker, and they made their home in Odessa. They had one son, James. LaDerma was employed at the Corner Drug in Odessa for several years. In 1974, she moved to Spokane, where she worked in various restaurants. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching golf and was employed at the Wandermere Golf Course for 15 years. She was also an active member of the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks fan clubs. In Feb 2001, her failing health forced her to quit working. She continued to live in Spokane until her death. She is survived by one son, James A. Wacker of Spokane; her mother, Rose Jenkins, of Spokane; two brothers, Arling (Red) Chappell, of Veradale, and Darrell Chappell, of Spokane; and two sisters, Peggy Heidenreich, of Spokane, and Maxine Wetjen, of Petaluma, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Wacker in 1972." (Odessa Record: 10-18-2001)
