Description	:	LaJean Hanson, 74, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, Iowa. LaJean Kay Hanson was born on August 17, 1942, the daughter of Herbert and Irma (Schwem) Slack in Tripoli, Iowa. She was baptized on September 6, 1942 and confirmed on April 14, 1957, both at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli, Iowa. LaJean graduated from Tripoli Community High School in May of 1960. LaJean Kay Hanson was born on August 17, 1942, the daughter of Herbert and Irma (Schwem) Slack in Tripoli, Iowa. She was baptized on September 6, 1942 and confirmed on April 14, 1957, both at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli, Iowa. LaJean graduated from Tripoli Community High School in May of 1960. On June 10, 1961, she was united in marriage to Larry Hanson at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli, Iowa. LaJean was employed at Carnation, Home at Heart, Bremwood School and then for the Waverly-Shell Rock School system as a para educator. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo where she was active in many church activities. LaJean and Larry enjoyed playing in the same card club for 48 years. LaJean loved spending time outdoors, hosting family gatherings, but most especially attending her grandchildren's activities. Survivors are her husband, Larry Hanson of Waverly, Iowa; three daughters, Kerri (Alan) Doering of Hubbard, Iowa, Debra (Jeff) Renner of Denison, Iowa and Karla (David) Reznicek of Waverly, Iowa; son, Jon (Antonella) Hanson of Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada; 9 grandchildren; brother, Glen (Glenda) Slack and niece, Erica Slack. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Art and Anna Slack and Herman and Emily Schwem. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2211 Maynard Avenue in Waterloo, Iowa with Pastor Len Brokenshire officiating. Burial will follow in the Fremont Cemetery rural Tripoli, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo and also an hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
