Description	:	Lamoine Ray Johnsen, 92 years of age, of Wilcox, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. He was born on July 20, 1924, in rural Kearney County, Nebraska, northeast of Wilcox, the second of eight sons born to George and Viola (Hawkinson) Johnsen. He received his education from Wilcox Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1942. Following his education, Lamoine began his lifelong career of farming on the family farm near Wilcox. Read More	Lamoine Ray Johnsen, 92 years of age, of Wilcox, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. He was born on July 20, 1924, in rural Kearney County, Nebraska, northeast of Wilcox, the second of eight sons born to George and Viola (Hawkinson) Johnsen. He received his education from Wilcox Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1942. Following his education, Lamoine began his lifelong career of farming on the family farm near Wilcox. In 1959, Lemoine began driving the school bus for Wilcox Public Schools. He enjoyed driving all of “his kids” on their bus routes and to all of their school activities. He thought of each child as his own and after 42 years of service, he retired. In the late 1970s, he began to also work as a custodial worker for the Wilcox Public Schools. In November of 2016, Lamoine began to make his home at Christian Homes after his health began to fail. He was a devoted member of the Wilcox United Methodist Church. Lamoine enjoyed family get-togethers with all of his siblings, nieces, nephews and their children. He ate most noon meals at the Wilcox Café and thought of them as his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lawrence Johnsen, Lloyd Johnsen, Wayne Johnsen and Glen Johnsen and his wife, Karen; and one nephew, Randy Johnsen. Lamoine leaves to celebrate his life; his brothers: Dale Johnsen and his wife, Gussie of Wilcox, Arlan Johnsen and his wife, Elaine of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Gary Johnsen and his wife, Liz of Stapleton, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Juanita Woollen and her husband, Bernie of Holdrege, Verle Johnsen of Wilcox and Rogene Johnsen of Wiley, Colorado; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral Services for Lamoine R. Johnsen will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Pastor Rick Thomason officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilcox Cemetery. The Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox is in charge of the arrangements.
