Description	:	LaMonte “Monte” Wiese, age 86, of Madison, died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Madison Regional Health System under hospice care. Funeral services which will celebrate his life will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 8th at West Center Baptist Church with Pastor Justin DeBerry officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Wednesday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. LaMonte Ervin Wiese was born June 21, 1930 in Madison, SD, the son of Ervin & Edna (Harter) Wiese. After graduating from Eastern High School in 1948, he farmed with his Dad on the family farm. He worked at John Morrell in Sioux Falls for two months one winter and soon found out that wasn’t for him. Monte married his high school sweetheart, Marian Sunde on June 8, 1952. Monte was an active life-long member of West Center Baptist Church where he had been serving as trustee, usher and facility team member. He served on the Board of Directors for the Madison Farmers Elevator for 18 years and briefly on the FHA Board. He was named Outstanding Young Farmer in Lake County in 1964. Monte was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and valet parking at the Madison Regional Hospital. He enjoyed senior bowling and coffee with the gang at McDonald’s. He spent many happy hours going to the activities of his ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He loved fishing, camping and traveling through the country, spending part of the winter in Arizona & Texas. LaMonte is survived by his loving wife, Marian of Madison; two sons, Reggie (Marli) and Randy (Chellie) both of Madison; two daughters, Rhonda (Darwin) Gramstad of Brandon, SD and Sharon (Raymon) Howington of Grand Prairie, TX; ten grandchildren, Maridee (Nick) Dossett, Gina (Jared) Peterreins, Russell (Kindra) Wiese, Ryan Wiese, David Wiese, Kayla Wiese, Amanda Gramstad, Derek (Alyssa) Gramstad and Monty & Kayden Howington; eleven great-grandchildren, Olyvia Schuurmans, Julia & Brody Dossett; Ella, Sophia, Ava & Beau Peterreins; Kyra, Rylen & Ryker Wiese; and Bowen Wiese; many other friends & relatives and three special little friends, Logan, Parker & Oakley.
