Read More	Larry Bruhn was born June 10, 1938, the son of Irwin and Bernice Backhaus Bruhn. He died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Hampton Health Care Center in Hampton, Iowa, at the age of seventy. Larry was born in Battle Creek, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on July 17, 1938, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township, Charter Oak, Iowa, and later confirmed on August 9, 1981, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Ricketts, Iowa. He received his education in #9 rural school in Soldier Township. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His friends knew him as one who was very friendly. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially driving his father's Ford tractor. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include one sister, Donna; two nephews, Ronald and his fiancee Roberta King; Roger and his wife Phyllis; two nieces, Linda and her husband Bill; and Diane and her husband David; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Randy Cormeny officiated the service and graveside rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa. Organist Cindy Wilcke provided accompaniment for hymns, "I'm but a Stranger Here," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Amazing Grace." Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Backhaus, Dennis Groth, Jerry Groth, David Bruhn, David Groth and Joel Groth. The family invited everyone to remain at the church and join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
