Funeral Service will be Monday, December 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery located west of Boone with Military Honors by the Boone Veterans Council. Larry Dean Cox was born on October 1, 1940 in Boone, Iowa, the son of Woodrow Donald and Alice Bernice (Staley) Cox. He graduated from Boone High School in 1958. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and served honorably until his discharge in 1961. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably as an Medical Technician until his retirement in 1986. On April 20, 1973, Larry was united in marriage to Linda Ann Bracken at Forbes Air Force Base Chapel in Topeka, Kansas. He enjoyed reading books, trains, shopping, watching NASCAR races and other racing sports and watching the History channel. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Cox; a niece, Darla Madden and a nephew, Wade Cox. Larry is survived by his wife, Linda of Boone; special son, Brandon Jay Cox of Boone; one brother, Doyle (Ida) Cox of Boone; four sisters, Lorraine (Darwin) Madden of Stanhope, Linda Jones of Madrid, Beverly (Jeff) Huston of Boone and Vickie (Randy) Treadway of Roland; a sister-in-law, Nyla Cox of Boone and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 10, 2017, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. In memory of Larry, memorials may be directed to the family.
