Description	:	Larry Ernest Johnson, 69 years of age, of McCook, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Larry was born on June 19, 1939 in Holdrege, the seventh of ten children of Ernest and Lois Irene (Hopkins) Johnson. Larry received his education in Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1957. He then pursued higher education at Kearney State Teachers College. Read More	Larry Ernest Johnson, 69 years of age, of McCook, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Larry was born on June 19, 1939 in Holdrege, the seventh of ten children of Ernest and Lois Irene (Hopkins) Johnson. Larry received his education in Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1957. He then pursued higher education at Kearney State Teachers College. Following his education, he was the Band and Music instructor for Oxford High School in Oxford, Nebraska. He also taught at Morrill, Franklin and Exeter High Schools. On March 9, 1962 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Middleton and to this union two children were born, Jill and Jeff. They made their home in Oxford. The couple later divorced. Larry then met a very special friend, Barb Giesler. The two enjoyed time spent with one another and cared deeply for each other. In 2007 the couple began managing the McCook Days Inn together where they operated it as a team. Larry also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Jill Collins of Walker Louisiana; his son, Jeff Johnson of North Platte, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Kylee Harris of Carbondale, IL and Nicole Harris of Amsterdam, NY; special friend Barb Giesler of McCook; three brothers: Dean and wife Jeanne Johnson of Alma, Nebraska; Dennis and his wife Shirley Johnson of Franklin, Nebraska and Rod Johnson of Kearney; one sister, Phyllis Wentling and husband Frank of Franklin; brother-in-law, Bernard Woollen and his wife Nita of Wilcox, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Melvin and Merlyn; three sisters Lois Anderson, Doris Lavene, and Leone Woollen.
