Description	:	Larry E. Dewell, 83, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, from pneumonia and complications of COVID-19. Visitation will be drive through from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clarence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be disbursed between St. John’s United Church of Christ, Clarence Ambulance, Clarence Senior Living Center and the Shriner’s Hospital in his memory. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa. Larry Eugene Dewell was born October 8, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harold and Leona (Meyer) Dewell. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's United Church of Christ. He graduated from Clarence High School in 1956. He married Arnola Dewell on August 9, 1959, at the Presbyterian Church in Tipton. Together they farmed the Dewell family farm north of Clarence along with his father, until 1992 when they retired from farming and moved to Lowden. He then started working for the Clarence Coop, selling Agri-King feed and was a Garst Seed Corn dealer, until he retired in 2015, and the couple moved back to Clarence. He became a resident of the Clarence Senior Living Center in 2019. He was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge, past president of the Cedar County Cattlemen, member of the Cedar County Extension Board, St. John’s United Church of Christ and served on the church council. He loved farming, working at the Coop and his wife’s cooking, but they enjoyed eating out also. He enjoyed watching westerns and Hallmark movies. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan! Surviving are his wife, Arnola; two daughters, Vicki (Allen) Hamdorf of Lowden and Dawn (Dave) Wiebel of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Rory Dewell of Clarence and Reece (Melody) Dewell of West Lafayette, IN; 14 grandchildren, Danielle (Josh Tjaden) Balichek, Ashley (Darren) Eiselstein, Jared (Caroline Kramer) Dewell, Mikki (Jen) Stimson, Brittni (Chad) Reifschneider, Maci (Josh ) Hamdorf, Brandi (Logan) Hamdorf, Morgan (Haley) Wiebel, Whitney (Kyle) Kuenstling, Kyley Wiebel, Jeremy, Mary, Seth and Aaron Dewell; 19 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jace, Andrew, Jace, Logan, Leighla, Landry, Mac, Lucas, Everett, Kase, Josie, Regan, Kellen, Kinzley, Kali, Boden, Brantley and Blakely; one brother, David (Pat) Dewell of Lowden; one sister-in-law, Donalee Weaver of Tipton; and two brother-in-laws, Arnie (Margi) Weaver of St. Joseph, MI, and Everett Sayles of LeClaire. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sister-in-laws, Norma Fell, Darlys Sayles and Patti Weaver and two brother-in-laws, John Fell and Verlon Weaver. The family would like to thank the staff at Clarence Senior Living Center and 6th center staff and Hospice unit at St. Luke’s Hospital for all their care given to Larry. Chapman Funeral Homes
