Larry Eugene Polzin was born on March 29, 1951, the son of Melvin Polzin and Beverly (Wilkie) Polzin Chaplin. He was raised in Hubbard, Iowa, and graduated from the Hubbard high School in 1969. Read More	Larry Polzin, age 68, of Schleswig, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Larry Eugene Polzin was born on March 29, 1951, the son of Melvin Polzin and Beverly (Wilkie) Polzin Chaplin. He was raised in Hubbard, Iowa, and graduated from the Hubbard high School in 1969. While in school he enjoyed hanging out with friends, playing football where he kicked the longest punt in high school history, and driving the school bus. He enlisted in the Navy, and was later discharged due to an injury. Arriving home, he began driving semi-truck. He was an adventurous young man living in Minnesota for a time but returned to Hubbard. He drove alongside Lowell Boeke team driving to California, where he met Julie Brondyke. They were married in 1989 and were the parents of daughters Abby and Anna. He relocated to northwest Iowa while driving for Mau trucking and was promoted to Safety Director until the closing of the company. The road was his passion. Panama Transfer was where he retired in 2016. He won many awards for his hard work and trucking abilities. He lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, riding his mower, camping, drinking a cold beer, golfing, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with his grandsons. He really enjoyed going south for the winter with Sharon and road-tripping with the dogs. His smile and contagious laugh always brought people together. He leaves behind two daughters, Abby (Andrew) Tiefenthaler and son Owen, Anna Brondyke and son Beckett Hanchett both from Holstein, Iowa; his special friend Sharon Peters of Schleswig, Iowa; two brothers Robert (Sue) Polzin of Dows, Iowa, and Kevin (Jackie) Chaplin of Hubbard, Iowa; one niece and two nephews. Larry was preceded in the death by his father Melvin Polzin; mother Beverly Chaplin; brothers James Polzin and Brian Chaplin; and nephew Shane Chaplin. Source: Boeke Funeral Home, Hubbard, Iowa
