GALIVANTS FERRY - Mr. Larry Gene Martin, 69, husband of Jeanette Sarvis Martin, of Galivants Ferry, passed away on the evening of Monday, January 17, 2022, after a brief illness at McLeod Hospital in Loris. Larry was born on November 7, 1952, in Mullins, South Carolina, a son to the late Paul LeRoy "Roy" Martin and the late Irene Graham Martin. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who wore many hats over the years. Larry served in the South Carolina National Guard, he was a volunteer fireman, he was employed with Walmart for several years, he was a Deacon of his church, and was a mentor to many people. Larry loved eating, he never turned down a chance to sample people's cooking. He loved NASCAR. But most of all Larry loved being with his family the most. Larry was a member of Wildwood Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving Larry in addition to his wife of the home, Jeanette Sarvis Martin, are three children, Larry Gene (Tammie) Martin, Jr. of Galivants Ferry, Jenny Martin (Chris) Bullock of Nichols, and Jody Lee (Amanda) Martin of Galivants Ferry; four sisters, Wanda (Dale) Herendeen of Longs, Judy (Allen) Register of Galivants Ferry, Donna (Bill) Smith of Mullins and Susan (Biff) Johnson of Loris; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. A funeral service for Mr. Martin will be held Sunday afternoon, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Wildwood Freewill Baptist Church in Nichols, with Rev. Jack Strickland officiating. Mr. Martin will be laid to rest in the cemetery there at Wildwood Freewill Baptist Church, services are being directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins.
