Larry Glen Garrick passed into the loving arms of Jesus after a hard fought battle with cancer on November 19, 2021. He was born on July 31, 1940, the youngest of four children, to Donald and Laura (T-Bone and Barney) Garrick in Plentywood. The family moved to Medicine Lake in 1945. Larry had two brothers, Everett and Arlie, as well as his sister, Lavanda (Vicki), in the household. After graduating high school in 1958, he split his time working at the local implement and for his father's business, Garrick's Standard Service. There, he was able to exercise a true gift of mechanics and soon became known as "the carburetor man". Larry had joined the Montana National Guard, completing his basic training in California. In 1964, he did what he would later tell his children was his greatest accomplishment; he married Jo Ann Torgerson, whom he adored for the rest of his life. In 1965, they welcomed their daughter, Cindy Lynn, and their son, Glen Alan, followed in 1969. Later that year, Larry began working as the manager of the Napa Auto Parts in Plentywood and was known by most as "Rock". He remained there as the manager until 1987, when he and Jo Ann purchased the business. They operated that store until Larry retired in 2002, when he sold the business. Following retirement, he greatly enjoyed helping Chad Peterson with the car lot. He kept the old Napa shop building, where he could be found busy working on car projects, sometimes for a friend, and caring for his cat. Larry had a quick witted sense of humor and was always joking, followed by that infectious chuckle. He and his brother-in-law, Otto, took a coffee break most afternoons, joking with many wait staff. His family would often hear how much they enjoyed him as a customer. In later years, he assisted the bus program for Plentywood School and helped Cindy and the Latte Da gals with whatever was needed. Whether it was running for change or fixing something, he was quick to answer the call. No one could have worked harder cutting, chopping, splitting and stacking a forest of wood for his wood stoves. Beloved by his family and valued by so many in the community, he will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his devoted wife Jo; daughter Cindy (Alan) Caldwell, grandchildren, Ashley (Chad) Clay, Payden Coldwell, great-grandson, Kellen Clay; his son, Glen (Jennifer) Garrick, grandchildren Brooks and Dawson Garrick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Laura Garrick, and his siblings, Everett, Arlie, and Lavanda.
