Larry Harold Lieswald was born on January 27, 1937 in Ewing, Nebraska to Leslie and Esther (Hoge) Lieswald. Larry attended Chambers Public Schools through the eighth grade when he left to help with the family business, Lieswald Trucking. Larry married Beverly Platt on December 31, 1960 at her parent’s home in Chambers. The couple moved to Anchorage Alaska where Larry served in the army. In 1963, the couple relocated to Los Angeles, CA where Larry worked for the City of Los Angeles as a street sweeper operator for more than 33 years before he retired in 1998. After retiring, he and Beverly traveled the United States on their beloved motorcycles until their grandchildren were born and they settled back down to babysit their two grandkids. After Beverly died in 2008, Larry moved back to Chambers where his heart had never really left. Larry was an uncomplicated man who enjoyed traveling especially if it could be done on the back of a motorcycle. He loved being a husband, dad and grandpa and enjoyed telling tales of his life to anyone who would listen. He loved his hometown of Chambers and thoroughly enjoyed the nine years he had after coming back home. Larry is survived by two daughters, Brenda Lieswald of Rosemead, California, Laurie Dunbar and husband, Michael, of Arcadia, California; and two grandchildren, Brian and Aubrey Dunbar. He is also leaves behind a dear friend, Beverly Grimes who loved him enough to help him remain in Chambers despite failing health, for which his family will be forever grateful. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, his parents and only brother, Harlan who died in a trucking accident in August 1960 at age 16. © Copyright 2006 - 19 Biglins Mortuary.
