He was born Aug. 21, 1940 to Basil and Icie (Miller) Shupperd. On Oct. 25, 1957, he married Sharon (Salsbery) Shupperd. She survives in Tipton. He retired from Steel Parts in 2003 after 40 years of service. He was a graduate of Tipton High School. He was an auctioneer and founding member of Quarter Milers Club and also a member of the Trap Shooters Association and life-time member of NHRA. Shupperd, 70, Tipton passed away at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Tipton. He was born Aug. 21, 1940 to Basil and Icie (Miller) Shupperd. On Oct. 25, 1957, he married Sharon (Salsbery) Shupperd. She survives in Tipton. He retired from Steel Parts in 2003 after 40 years of service. He was a graduate of Tipton High School. He was an auctioneer and founding member of Quarter Milers Club and also a member of the Trap Shooters Association and life-time member of NHRA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting and drag racing. Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Diana (Darrell) Hunter-Cardwell of Plymouth, Shari (Joe) Cottingham of Tipton, Tamara (Tim) Pore of Tipton and Tracy Altherr and special friend, Darryl Wray of Tipton; ten grandchildren, Dustina Hunter, Joshua Hunter, Jacob Hunter, Kayla Cottingham, Kristina (Brady) Middleton, Mark Pore, Justin Pore, Elizabeth Altherr, Jessica Altherr and James Altherr; four great-grandchildren, Addi Hunter, Emily and Angi Jackson and Bradyn Middleton; his sisters, Betty (Bill) Cunningham of Tipton, Bernice (Walt) Johns of Kokomo, Gwen (Att) Morris of Tipton and Linda (Don) Amsbury of Tipton; his special nephew, Greg Shupperd of Kokomo and his son, Larry Joe Shupperd of Windfall; and a brother, David Gibson of Kokomo. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robert Shupperd, Phil Shupperd and Lawrence Shupperd; and a sister, Sally Yuill. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Leatherman-Morris-Boyer Funeral Home in Tipton. The Revs. Ron Degraff and Rev. Bill Cunningham will officiate. Burial will follow in Tipton's Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Habitat for Humanity.
