Description	:	Larry McDowell, 89, of Iowa Falls, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ackley. He will be laid to rest at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at the church. Masks and social distancing guidelines will be strictly adhered to. Read More	Larry McDowell, 89, of Iowa Falls, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ackley. Masks and social distancing guidelines will be strictly adhered to. Larry James McDowell was born on July 19, 1932 to Raymond and Grace McDowell in Ackley, Iowa. On August 18, 1953 he was united in marriage to Nancy Jo Moon. Larry worked for different excavating companies before starting McDowell Excavating in 1960. He was later joined by his three sons and grandson. Larry was very proud of McDowell and Sons contractors and the clientele he built and served in Hardin and surrounding counties. Larry was on the Ackley State Bank and GNB Holding Company boards. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ackley and served as an elder and trustee. Larry was an avid Hawkeye fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at Lake Thunderhead. He took great pride in his farm in Missouri where he built several ponds, stocked them with fish, including white catfish, to be caught by several generations of McDowell’s. Larry also enjoyed playing dominos with his daughters. Larry McDowell is survived by his wife of sixty- eight years, Nancy McDowell of Iowa Falls, Iowa; his children, Steve (Patsy) McDowell of Ackley, Iowa, Rick (Sue) McDowell of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Jill (Art Thompson) McDowell of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Jim (Deb) McDowell of Steamboat Rock, Iowa and Julie McDowell of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren: Travis (Erin) McDowell, Lacey (Aric) Chvala, Andy McDowell, Molly (Brett) Schipper, Jory (Ally) McDowell, Jess (Andrew) Billerbeck; great-grandchildren: Trey, Bret, Fynlee, Addy, Colson, Calli, Knox, Skylar and Colt. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Joe Dean. Woodley Funeral Home, LLC of Iowa Falls is caring for Larry and his family.
