Description	:	Larry Leroy Jarvis, 70, of Ottumwa, died at 8:21 p.m. January 7, 2021 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. He was born August 8, 1950 in Ottumwa to Oris E. and Anna Ruth Ash Jarvis. He was born August 8, 1950 in Ottumwa to Oris E. and Anna Ruth Ash Jarvis. Larry married Cathy Harness on August 15, 1970. A 1969 graduate of Eddyville High School, he attended Ottumwa Heights College and graduated from Parsons College. He worked for over 35 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works retiring in 2009 as Industrial Relations Manager. Larry had been a member of First United Methodist Church. He played trumpet for 20 years with the Ottumwa Municipal Band, was a volunteer coordinator for Ottumwa Habitat for Humanity, a member and past president of Ottumwa Morning Kiwanis, served on the Ottumwa Community Players Board and was past president of Ottumwa High School Music Boosters. Larry was the 2018 recipient of the Gene Schultz City of Ottumwa Community Service Award, he served on the City of Ottumwa Planning & Zoning Board, City of Ottumwa Civil Service Commission and served as Regional Red Cross Chairman. Surviving is his wife, Cathy; their sons, Jeremy Jean "Jay" (Shannon) Jarvis and Judson Edwards "Judd" Jarvis (fiancée Cary Oliva) both of Charlottesville, VA; and a grandson, Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents. Limited open visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, January 11th at Reece Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rfh-ia.com. Private funeral services will be held at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Griffith officiating. For those unable to be at the service, you may watch it live at 1 p.m. Tuesday January 12th on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
