Description	:	Larry Lew Laune was born March 10, 1937 and passed away on May 9, 2016. He was born at Boulder Community Hospital, the only child to Dorothy Sharpe Laune and Virgil Laune. Read More	Larry Lew Laune was born March 10, 1937 and passed away on May 9, 2016. He was born at Boulder Community Hospital, the only child to Dorothy Sharpe Laune and Virgil Laune. When he was a young child they moved to Loveland. After attending Garfield school, he graduated from Loveland High school. For the next two years he studied pharmacology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He then served in the army specializing in heavy artillery for four years and then in the National Guard for six more years. After his military service, he moved to Estes Park to work at Rexall Drug. Later he worked for 25 more years in management at an Asco Drug store in Greeley. In 1967 he met Delila Rueb on a blind date and two years later they married at the Sweetheart Chapel in Loveland. Until this past year, they lived at 369 W. 4th St., across from what is now Bill Reed Jr. High school, in a house that was his grandmother's that was built in 1903. Larry had many musical talents. He played the piccolo, flute, piano and organ. He also had a keen interest in photography. As a child, he enjoyed watching the trains that came through Loveland. He became fascinated and learned to imitate their sounds and whistles. Later he gave excellent performances of those sounds to fascinated children. Larry and Delila loved to travel. They enjoyed 26 cruises during their life together. Destinations included Europe, Russia, Turkey, Greece, Panama Canal, Norway, Alaska and Hawaii. Larry enjoyed playing the part of Santa Claus at many different functions. His family especially looked forward to his role as Santa at the annual Christmas celebration at Jerome and Diane Kulm's home. In 1982 Larry was diagnosed with a leaking aneurism in the brain. He spent many weeks in both Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins and University Hospital in Denver. With all the surgeries he endured, his mental status suffered. Later he was diagnosed with dementia. Delila took loving and faithful care of him for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Dorothy Laune. Larry is survived by his wife, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews [survivors names omitted]. Even though it is difficult to say good bye to Larry now, we are all looking forward to seeing him with Jesus in Heaven, with his new perfect body.
