Foster was born on January 27th, 1934 to Edward and Christine Foster in Bluffton, IN. He is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Kent. The family moved to Howard County, and he graduated Sharpsville High School where he met his lifelong love, Elizabeth Kelly. The two wed on September 5th, 1954, and he swore that decision was the sweetest of his lifetime, as they celebrated 64 years together last fall. He attended Purdue University and graduated with a B.S. and deep Boilermaker pride in 1956. He also received an M.S. and Ed.S. from Ball State University. Those degrees would lead to accomplishments in a plethora of higher public education positions in Kirklin, Arcadia, and Kokomo, IN, as well as positions at Huston Electric as he neared retirement. In his spare time, Foster enjoyed playing golf, listening to classic jazz on his radio, and watching birds eat and flutter about outside his sunroom window. Larry took pride in his blooming family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities as they aged. He will be remembered for a whimsical humor that could lighten the darkest of moods and a wickedly bright smile. He will also be remembered as a devout Christian; a member of the Shiloh Methodist Church, Larry preached love and kindness to everyone he knew, just as God intended. He is survived by his wife, Beth; along with three sons, Kevin (Tanya), Kelly (Sherry), and Tim (Heidi); and beloved bonus son, Tim McElfresh. Also surviving are grandchildren, Amie (Barry) Hood, Curtis (Erin), Jordan (Sable), Kendra, Aleda, Kiley, and Cara-Faith (Joey) Francis as well as multiple treasured great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Michael Goodspeed officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kokomo Urban Outreach. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
