Description	:	Larry Shane Henderson, 75, lifetime Cherry County rancher, died March 21, 2017, at his ranch north of Whitman. Larry, son of Rosella (Grouns) and Floyd E. Henderson, was born on April 9, 1941, at the Swett Maternity Home in Hyannis. He attended school at District No. 151 north of Whitman. Read More	Larry Shane Henderson, 75, lifetime Cherry County rancher, died March 21, 2017, at his ranch north of Whitman. Larry, son of Rosella (Grouns) and Floyd E. Henderson, was born on April 9, 1941, at the Swett Maternity Home in Hyannis. He attended school at District No. 151 north of Whitman. He graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture, Curtis, in 1959. After graduation, he returned to the ranch that his family operated since 1881. He was proud to be a fourth-generation rancher. On Sept. 13, 1965, Larry married Carolynn Tina Crumroy in Hyannis. Two children, Elmus Michael and Casey Lee, were born to this union. In addition to his family and the ranch, Larry loved good horses, especially cutting horses. The two stud horses that Larry purchased are the foundation for breeding of the Henderson Dry Box Horses. This breeding is known as one of the top performance horse programs in the area. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Cutting Horse Association of Nebraska, Western States Cutting Association, Nebraska Cattlemen, ICON, R-Calf, Cherry County Wind Association and Faith Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Lee Jeary-Peters; sisters-in-law, Judy Powles and Kay Zickefoose; and brother-in-law, Jack Zickefoose. He is survived by his wife, Carolynn of Whitman; children, Elmus Michael (Tee Jay) Henderson of Whitman and Casey Lee Henderson of Hyannis; grandson, Logan Henderson; granddaughters, Erica and Ashlyn Henderson; stepmother, Alene Bestol; stepsister, Barbara Fink; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilynn (Jerry) Olson of Reno, Nevada, Jeanne (Gene) Davis of Hyannis, Dick Peters of Hyannis and Gary Powles of Bingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. (MT) on Monday, March 27, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Hyannis. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Whitman Cemetery. Mullen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
