Services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Steven Hetzel officiating. Burial was in St. Claire Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Launie was born April 9, 1915, in Soldier, Iowa, the son of William R. and Jennie (Brawley) Meadows. He was raised in the Soldier and Ute, Iowa area, attending school in Soldier. Services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Steven Hetzel officiating. Burial was in St. Claire Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Launie was born April 9, 1915, in Soldier, Iowa, the son of William R. and Jennie (Brawley) Meadows. He was raised in the Soldier and Ute, Iowa area, attending school in Soldier. He worked at various farming jobs during the depression era and later farmed. He also had a trucking operation. He and Mabel E. Reimer were united in marriage Jan. 19, 1944, in Tarkio, Mo. The couple made their home in Soldier, where he farmed and trucked. In 1958, they left the farm and moved to Onawa, where he continued trucking. Mabel died July 6, 2002, in Onawa. He was a friend of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being with friends and was always a good listener and friend. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Twila and Ray Rose of Onawa; grandchildren, Renee L. Rose of Gardiner, Mont., Kirk (Sandy) Rose of Onawa, Greg (Renee) Rose of Sioux City, Paula Rose and her fiance, Les Ellis of Moorhead, Iowa, and Julee (Danny) Pruett of Onawa; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mabel and 13 siblings.
