Born In Clear Creek Township The following obituary was read at the service: Laura Alice Shepley, daughter of John and Rhoda Shepley, was born May 15, 1865 in Clear Creek township, and departed this life at her home in Newton Friday, March 20, 1943, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 4 days. She grew to womanhood in the community in which she was born and in 1883 she was united in marriage to William C. Plumb. To this union 13 children were born. She is survived by her husband, four daughters and two sons; they are Mrs Carrie Perin and Mrs Clara Sumpter, of Baxter; Mrs Jennie Taylor, of Colfax; Mrs Elsie Plumb of Edgemont, S Dak., Harry Plumb, of Colo and Van Plumb, of Newton. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven children, three brothers and six sisters. Mrs Plumb had made her home with her son, Van, and family for the last 16 years. Prior to their moving to Newton in August 1942, the family had lived near Baxter. Early in life Mrs Plumb was converted and baptised in the Christian faith uniting with the Methodist Protestant church near her home, later uniting with the Weslyan Methodist church.
