Description	:	SHAWMUT - Laura E. Bray, 99, of Shawmut, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at the home of her daughter, in Shawmut. She was born in Montville on July 24, 1914, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Foster) Carter. She was a graduate of Danforth High School, class of 1932. On Nov. 29, 1933, she married Robert Bray, and together shared many wonderful years together. He passed away on June 26, 1999. She was employed by the C. F. Hathaway Co. in Waterville for 40 years as a stitcher, before retiring in 1980.She was a member of the... Read More	SHAWMUT - Laura E. Bray, 99, of Shawmut, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at the home of her daughter, in Shawmut. She was born in Montville on July 24, 1914, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Foster) Carter. She was a graduate of Danforth High School, class of 1932. On Nov. 29, 1933, she married Robert Bray, and together shared many wonderful years together. He passed away on June 26, 1999. She was employed by the C. F. Hathaway Co. in Waterville for 40 years as a stitcher, before retiring in 1980.She was a member of the Shawmut Chapel for 80 years. She served as a deaconess, superintendent of Sunday school, taught Sunday school, and also belonged to the Willing Workers group. She was also a member of the Rebekah's #50, in Fairfield for more than 50 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, quilting, and doing other crafts. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Robert H. Bray, in 1985, and Arnal Bray, in 1973; two brothers, Hillman, and Mason Carter; a sister, Louella Fortin; grandchildren Roxanne and Crystal Young, Amy Witham, and Paul, Rhonda, and David Bray; and a son-in-law, Raymond Witham. She is survived by her two children, Pamella Witham, of Shawmut, and Oliver Bray and his wife, Barbara, of Norwich, Conn.; two brothers, Phillip Carter and Zalisco Carter, both of Benton; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
